Intellectual Property

Protecting, developing and defending your intangible assets: trade marks, patents, copyright, designs, domain names and trade secrets, in Belgium and internationally.

We assess the scope, stakes and documents of your matter before defining an engagement and its fees.

Your request is reviewed within 24 business hours.

What creates your value is intangible; we protect it.

Act without delay

In this area, time often works against you. A few situations where every day counts:

  • Evidence of infringement can disappear: a descriptive seizure must be requested quickly.
  • Priority and opposition periods start running as soon as a trade mark or patent is filed.
  • Premature disclosure can permanently compromise the patentability of an invention.

We respond to your request within 24 business hours. Your communications are covered by professional secrecy, and the first consultation is defined in scope and deducted if a file is opened.

When to seek advice

A company's value often lies in its intangible assets. We connect their protection, exploitation and defence with your commercial strategy.

You want to protect a creation or a sign

Trade mark, logo, invention, design, software or content: we identify the rights available, the registration steps (BOIP for the Benelux, EUIPO for the European Union, EPO for patents) and the priorities for your markets.

You exploit or assign rights

Licences, assignments, development agreements, intellectual property clauses in commercial and employment contracts: we secure ownership and the terms of exploitation.

You are facing an infringement

Counterfeiting, free-riding, unauthorised use or an ownership dispute: we assess the evidence, the available measures (including descriptive seizure) and the courses of action before acting.

Frequently asked questions

Must a trade mark be registered to be protected?

Trade mark law is, in principle, based on registration. A Benelux, European or international filing confers, subject to conditions, an exclusive right for the goods and services covered.

Does copyright require registration?

No: protection in principle arises from the creation of an original work, without formalities. It is nevertheless advisable to keep evidence of the date of creation and authorship.

What is the difference between a trade mark, a patent and copyright?

A trade mark protects a distinctive sign, a patent a technical invention, copyright an original creation. A single project may involve several of these rights.

What should I do in case of infringement?

Document the infringement and its date, avoid hasty public statements, and have the available measures, including descriptive seizure, assessed before taking action.

How can a trade secret be protected?

Through organised confidentiality measures (agreements, access restrictions, internal policies). Protection requires the information to remain secret and to be subject to reasonable measures.
